SWEET PONGAL/CHAKKARA PONGAL

INGREDIENTS:-

rice - 1 cup
moong dal/pesarapappu- 1/2 cup
jaggery /bellam - 1 cup or more (as per taste)
cashews -2 tsp
raisins/kismis- 2 tsp
ghee-3 tsp
water-3 cups
milk- 1 cup
coconut- small piece
cardamom/elachi pwd-1 tsp
saffron - few (optional)

PROCESS:-

1.Clean moong dal n rice together .

2.Take a pan add water along with moong dal n rice n let it cook till 75 percent


3.Meanwhile, cut coconut into small pieces n keep aside

4.Heat a pan ,add ghee ,n fry raisins n cashews n keep aside.


5.Grate the jaggery into small pieces n keep aside.

6.When its 75 percent cooked add milk n let it cook .Stir in between else the rice gets sticked to the bottom of the pan.

7.Now add cardamom pwd ,enough grated jaggery n stir in till it gets melted.Den add coconut pieces n stir in again n let the rice cook completely til it gets a little mashy texture.

8.Now add in enough ghee (or u can also add butter) n a few strads of saffron n fried raisins n cashews n mix it well .
SERVE HOT!!!!!!!!
NOTE:-
1) U CAN ALSO ADD SUGAR INSTEAD OF JAGGERY BUT JAGGERY GIVES A SPECIAL FLAVOUR TO THE DISH.
2)U NEED TO ADD MILK N JAGGERY AFTER THE RICE GETS 75 PERCENT COOKED BECAUSE THE RICE DOESNOT GET EASILY COOKED IF U ADD MILK IN THE BEGINNING.
